Abu Burda bin Niyar reported,

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "No one is to be flogged more than ten lashes except in a punishment prescribed by Allah ."Layth had narrated this to us in Baghdad from Yazid bin Abu Habib, from Bukayr, from Sulayman. Then when we were in Egypt, Bukayr bin Abdullah bin Ashajj informed us of it directly.
