Jibreel, or an angel, came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked, "How do you regard those among you who witnessed Badr?"They replied, "As the best among us."He said, "That is exactly how we regard them among the angels, as the best among us."
حدثنا وكيع حدثنا سفيان عن يحيى بن سعيد عن عباية بن رفاعة
إن جبريل أو ملكا جاء إلى النبي ﷺ فقال ما تعدون من شهد بدرا فيكم قالوا خيارنا قال كذلك هم عندنا خيارنا من الملائكة
Its isnad is sahih, its narrators have already been mentioned. It is found in Ibn Majah 1/57, no. 160, in the introduction, the virtues of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and Bukhari narrated it with similar wording in 7/312, no. 3992, Fath al-Bari, in the book of military expeditions, the angels' presence at Badr.
