Someone said, "Messenger of Allah, we will be meeting the enemy tomorrow, and we have no knives with us."He replied, "Whatever causes blood to flow, and over which the name of Allah has been mentioned, you may eat from it, except for tooth and nail. I will tell you why. As for the tooth, it is a bone, and as for the nail, it is the knife of the Abyssinians."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ obtained some spoils, and one of the camels among them ran off. The men chased it but could not catch it, so one of them shot it with an arrow and brought it down. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "These camels, or these livestock, sometimes bolt like wild animals do. If any of them gets out of your control, deal with it like this."The narrator said, The Prophet ﷺ used to count ten sheep as equal to one camel when dividing the spoils.Shuba said, To the best of my knowledge, I heard this last phrase from Saeed, "He counted ten sheep as equal to one camel," and Sufyan also narrated it to me from him.Muhammad said, And I heard this phrase from Sufyan.
