I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he was setting out on a military expedition, accompanied by a man from my people, and we had not yet embraced Islam. We said, "We feel ashamed that our people should take part in a battle while we are not with them."He asked, "Have you two embraced Islam?"We answered, "No."He said, "We do not seek the help of polytheists against polytheists."So we embraced Islam and joined him in the battle. I killed a man, and he struck me a blow. Later, I married his daughter, and she would say to me, "May I never lose the man who gave you this scar."And I would reply, "May I never lose the man who hastened your father to the Fire."
حدثنا يزيد قال أخبرنا المستلم بن سعيد حدثنا
أتيت رسول الله ﷺ وهو يريد غزوا أنا ورجل من قومي ولم نسلم فقلنا إنا نستحيي أن يشهد قومنا مشهدا لا نشهده معهم قال أو أسلمتما قلنا لا قال فإنا لا نستعين بالمشركين على المشركين قال فأسلمنا وشهدنا معه فقتلت رجلا وضربني ضربة وتزوجت بابنته بعد ذلك فكانت تقول لا عدمت رجلا وشحك هذا الوشاح فأقول لا عدمت رجلا عجل أباك النار
