As for Abdul-Rahman, he traced it back to the Prophet ﷺ. As for Yahya, he reported from Sahl, who said:The imam stands with one row behind him and another row in front of him facing the enemy. He prays one rakah with two prostrations with those behind him, then remains standing until they complete another rakah on their own. They then advance to the position of their companions, and the others come and take their place. He then prays one rakah with two prostrations with them, then sits until they complete another rakah, after which he gives the salam.
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر قال حدثنا شعبة عن يحيى بن سعيد وعبد الرحمن بن القاسم بن محمد بن أبي بكر الصديق عن القاسم عن صالح بن خوات
أما عبد الرحمن فرفعه إلى النبي ﷺ وأما يحيى فذكر عن سهل قال يقوم الإمام وصف خلفه وصف بين يديه فيصلي بالذي خلفه ركعة وسجدتين ثم يقوم قائما حتى يصلوا ركعة أخرى ثم يتقدمون إلى مكان أصحابهم ثم يجيء أولئك فيقومون مقام هؤلاء فيصلي بهم ركعة وسجدتين ثم يقعد حتى يقضوا ركعة أخرى ثم يسلم عليهم
Its isnad is sahih. Its narrators are well known and reputable authorities who have already been mentioned, and Salih bin Khuwat bin Jubayr Ansari Madani was deemed trustworthy and praised by scholars, and his hadith is found in all the major collections. The hadith has already appeared at 10712 with similar wording.
