He came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of the Battle of the Trench while he was taking the people's pledge of allegiance upon emigration. He said, "Messenger of Allah, take this man's pledge."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Who is this?"He replied, "My cousin, Hawt bin Yazid," or "Yazid bin Hawt."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I will not take your pledge. People emigrate to you, you do not emigrate to them. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad ﷺ, no man loves the Ansar until he meets Allah except that he will meet Allah
loving him, and no man hates the Ansar until he meets Allah
except that he will meet Allah
hating him."
Its isnad is sahih. Yunus bin Muhammad is Ibn Muslim Baghdadi Muaddib, and he is trustworthy and firmly reliable, mentioned frequently. Abdul-Rahman bin Ghasil is Abdul-Rahman bin Sulayman bin Abdullah bin Hanzala Ansari, and his father is not the one called Ghasil, rather Ghasil is Hanzala, but they attribute him this way in his honor. They have deemed him trustworthy despite some laxity in him, and he has a hadith in the Sahihayn. Hamza bin Abu Usayd Ansari Saadi is trustworthy and has a narration recorded by Bukhari. The hadith was narrated by Tabarani, 3/264, no. 3356, and 4/246. See also the hadith "The sign of faith is love for the Ansar," no. 12256.
