Saaib bin Abdullah reported,

I was brought to the Prophet ﷺ on the day of the conquest of Mecca. Uthman bin Affan and Zuhayr brought me, and they began to praise me to him.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them, "You do not need to tell me about him. He was my companion in the days of ignorance."I said, "Yes, Messenger of Allah, and what an excellent companion you were."He said, "Saib, look at the noble traits you used to practice in the days of ignorance and carry them into Islam. Welcome the guest, honor the orphan, and treat your neighbor well."

عن السائب بن عبد الله قال

جيء بي إلى النبي ﷺ يوم فتح مكة جاء بي عثمان بن عفان وزهير فجعلوا يثنون عليه فقال لهم رسول الله ﷺ لا تعلموني به قد كان صاحبي في الجاهلية قال قال نعم يا رسول الله فنعم الصاحب كنت قال فقال يا سائب انظر أخلاقك التي كنت تصنعها في الجاهلية فاجعلها في الإسلام أقر الضيف وأكرم اليتيم وأحسن إلى جارك
