Abdul-Rahman bin Bailmani reported,

Four of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gathered together.One of them said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Allah accepts the repentance of His servant up to a day before he dies.'"The second asked, "Did you yourself hear this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"He replied, "Yes."The second then said, "And I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Allah accepts the repentance of His servant up to half a day before he dies.'"The third asked, "Did you yourself hear this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"He replied, "Yes."The third then said, "And I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Allah accepts the repentance of His servant up to the forenoon before he dies.'"The fourth asked, "Did you yourself hear this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"He replied, "Yes. And I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Allah accepts the repentance of His servant as long as the death rattle has not reached his throat.'"

حدثنا حسين بن محمد أخبرنا محمد بن مطرف عن زيد بن أسلم

عن عبد الرحمن بن البيلماني قال

اجتمع أربعة من أصحاب رسول الله ﷺ فقال أحدهم سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول إن الله تبارك وتعالى يقبل توبة العبد قبل أن يموت بيوم فقال الثاني أأنت سمعت هذا من رسول الله ﷺ قال نعم قال وأنا سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول إن الله تبارك وتعالى يقبل توبة العبد قبل أن يموت بنصف يوم فقال الثالث أأنت سمعت هذا من رسول الله ﷺ قال نعم قال وأنا سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول إن الله تبارك وتعالى يقبل توبة العبد قبل أن يموت بضحوة قال الرابع أأنت سمعت هذا من رسول الله ﷺ قال نعم وأنا سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول إن الله يقبل توبة العبد ما لم يغرغر بنفسه
