Habib bin Maslama came to Qays bin Saad bin Ubada during the first civil strife while Habib was on a horse. He moved back from the saddle and said, "Mount up."Qays refused and said to him, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'The owner of the mount has the greater right to its front.'"Habib replied, "I am not unaware of what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, but I fear for your safety."
Its isnad is hasan, because of Abdul-Rahman bin Umaya, whom some considered unknown while Ibn Hibban deemed him trustworthy, and Abdul-Aziz bin Abdul-Malik bin Mulayl Balawi Qudai, whom Ibn Hibban deemed trustworthy while the other imams remained silent about him. The hadith previously appeared at 11221 without the dialogue. Tirmidhi said in 2273, hasan gharib.
