He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say on the day of the conquest of Mecca, "No man of Quraysh shall be executed in bonds after this day."Islam did not reach any of the rebels of Quraysh except Muti. His name had been Asi, and the Prophet ﷺ renamed him Muti.
حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن زكريا حدثنا عامر
أنه سمع رسول الله ﷺ يوم فتح مكة يقول لا يقتل قرشي صبرا بعد اليوم ولم يدرك الإسلام أحدا من عصاة قريش غير مطيع وكان اسمه عاصي فسماه مطيعا يعني النبي ﷺ
