Affan reported to me from Yahya bin Saad, from Saad, that the plague was mentioned in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said, "It is a punishment that was inflicted upon those who came before you. If it appears in a land, do not enter it, and if you are in a land where it has appeared, do not leave it."

عفان حدثني عن يحيى بن سعد عن سعد أن الطاعون ذكر عند رسول الله ﷺ فقال إنه رجز أصيب به من كان قبلكم فإذا كان بأرض فلا تدخلوها وإذا كنتم بأرض وهو بها فلا تخرجوا منها
