Amr bin Hazm was called to a woman in Medina who had been bitten by a snake, so that he might recite a healing incantation over her, but he refused. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was informed of this and summoned him.Amr said, "Messenger of Allah, you have forbidden incantations."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Recite it to me."So he recited it to him, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no harm in it. These are merely covenants. Use it as a healing incantation."
حدثنا حسن حدثنا ابن لهيعة حدثنا أبو الزبير
أن عمرو بن حزم دعي لامرأة بالمدينة لدغتها حية ليرقيها فأبى فأخبر بذلك رسول الله ﷺ فدعاه فقال عمرو يا رسول الله إنك تزجر عن الرقى فقال اقرأها علي فقرأها عليه فقال رسول الله ﷺ لا بأس إنما هي مواثيق فارق بها
