Jabir bin Abdullah reported,

We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he said, "A man will appear before you," or he said, "A man will enter upon you," meaning a man from the people of Paradise.Then Abu Bakr came.Then he said, "A young man will appear before you," or "will enter upon you," meaning a man from the people of Paradise.Then Umar came.Then he said, "A man from the people of Paradise will appear before you. O Allah, let it be Ali. O Allah, let it be Ali."Then Ali came.

حدثنا يزيد أخبرنا شريك بن عبد الله عن عبد الله بن محمد بن عقيل

عن جابر بن عبد الله قال

كنا مع رسول الله ﷺ فقال يطلع عليكم رجل أو قال يدخل عليكم رجل يريد رجل من أهل الجنة فجاء أبو بكر رضي الله عنه ثم قال يطلع عليكم أو يدخل عليكم شاب يريد رجل من أهل الجنة قال فجاء عمر رضي الله عنه ثم قال يطلع عليكم رجل من أهل الجنة اللهم اجعله عليا اللهم اجعله عليا قال فجاء علي رضي الله عنه
