Jabir bin Abdullah reported,

Revelation paused for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at the beginning of his prophethood, and seclusion was made beloved to him. He used to withdraw alone to Hira. While he was returning from Hira, he suddenly heard a sound above him. He raised his head, and there was the one who had come to him at Hira, seated on a throne above him.He said, "When I saw him, I sank to the ground. When I recovered, I rushed back to my family and said, 'Cover me, cover me!' Then Jibreel ﷺ came to me and said, 'You who are wrapped in a cloak, arise and warn, and magnify your Lord, and purify your garments, and shun all defilement' [Muddaththir 74:1–5]."

عن جابر بن عبد الله قال

حبس الوحي عن رسول الله ﷺ في أول أمره وحبب إليه الخلاء فجعل يخلو في حراء فبينما هو مقبل من حراء إذا أنا بحس من فوقي فرفعت رأسي فإذا الذي أتاني بحراء فوق رأسي على كرسي قال فلما رأيته جئثت على الأرض فلما أفقت أتيت أهلي مسرعا فقلت دثروني دثروني فأتاني جبريل ﷺ فقال {يا أيها المدثر قم فأنذر وربك فكبر وثيابك فطهر والرجز فاهجر}
