Word reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that one of his companions had freed a slave of his to take effect upon his death, and the man had no property other than him. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sold the slave for eight hundred and handed the proceeds to his master.

بلغ رسول الله ﷺ أن رجلا من أصحابه أعتق عبدا له عن دبر ولم يكن له مال غيره فباع رسول الله ﷺ العبد بثمان مائة ودفعه إلى مواليه
