Hajjaj came to Medina, so we asked Jabir bin Abdullah about the prayer times. He said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray Zuhr at midday, Asr while the sun was still bright, and Maghrib when the sun had set. As for Isha, sometimes he delayed it and sometimes he prayed it early. When he saw the people had gathered, he prayed it early, and when he saw them coming slowly, he delayed it. As for Fajr, they used to pray it," or he said, "he used to pray it, in the darkness before dawn."
