We set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ thinking we were doing nothing but hajj. When we arrived in Mecca, an announcement was made among us, "Whoever has not brought a sacrificial animal with him should exit ihram, and whoever has brought a sacrificial animal should remain in his ihram."So the people exited ihram by performing umrah, except those who had brought sacrificial animals along. The Prophet ﷺ remained in ihram, and he had with him one hundred camels for sacrifice. Then Ali arrived from Yemen, and the Prophet ﷺ asked him, "With what intention did you enter ihram?"Ali replied, "I said, 'O Allah, I enter ihram with the same intention as Your Prophet ﷺ.'"So the Prophet ﷺ gave him more than thirty of the sacrificial camels, and the two of them remained in their ihram until the sacrificial animals reached the place where they were to be slaughtered.
