The Messenger of Allah ﷺ fought against Muharib Khasafah at Nakhl. They saw an opportunity to catch the Muslims off guard, so a man among them called Ghawrath bin Harith came and stood over the head of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with his sword and said, "Who will protect you from me?"The Prophet replied, "Allah ."The sword then fell from his hand, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ picked it up and said, "Who will protect you from me?"Ghawrath said, "Be the best one to take it."The Prophet asked, "Will you bear witness that there is no god but Allah?"He said, "No, but I pledge to you that I will not fight you and will not be with any people who fight you."So the Prophet let him go. He returned to his companions and said, "I have come to you from the best of people."When the time of Dhuhr or Asr came, the Prophet led them in the prayer of fear. The people were in two groups, one group facing the enemy and another group praying with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He prayed two rakahs with the group that was with him, then they departed and took the place of those who had been facing the enemy. The other group then came, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed two rakahs with them. So each group had two rakahs, while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had four rakahs.
