Sulayman bin Hisham said to me, "This man," meaning Zuhri, "will not let us eat anything without ordering us to perform ablution because of it," meaning food touched by fire.I said to him, "I asked Saeed bin Musayab about that, and he said, 'When you eat it, it is good and you owe no ablution for it. When it comes out, it is foul and you owe ablution for that.'"He asked, "Is there anyone else in the land?"I said, "Yes, the foremost man in the Arabian Peninsula in knowledge."He asked, "Who?"I said, "Ata bin Abu Rabah."Bahz said, So he sent for him and he was brought. He sent to him, and Ata said, "Jabir told me that they ate bread and meat with Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, then he prayed and did not perform ablution."He said to Ata, "What do you say about the umra grant?"He said, "Jabir told me that the Prophet ﷺ said, 'The umra grant is permissible.'"

[Shakir: 14857] Its isnad is sahih. Sulayman bin Hisham is not part of the chain, because Qatada does not narrate from him here. Rather, he mentions an incident and then states that he narrates it from Saeed bin Musayab, and also narrates it from Ataa. As for Sulayman bin Hisham, he is the son of Abdul-Malik, the Umayyad caliph. The hadith about wudu from what has been touched by fire has been mentioned many times before.[Shakir: 14858] Its isnad is sahih. It has already appeared at 14822.
