The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to visit us at our home. He saw a man with disheveled hair and said, "Could this man not find something to tidy his hair with?" Then he saw another man wearing dirty clothes and said, "Could this man not find something to wash his clothes with?"
Its isnad is sahih. Miskin bin Bukayr was deemed reliable by scholars, and his hadith appears in the Sahihayn, and Hassan bin Atiya was a trustworthy jurist. The hadith was narrated by Abu Dawud, 4/51, no. 4062, in the chapter on clothing, in the section on washing garments, and by Nasai, 8/184, no. 5237, in the chapter on adornment, in the section on settling the hair. Also by Hakim, 4/186, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
