Abu Zubayr reported,

I asked Jabir about the dabb lizard, and he said, "It was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who said, 'I will not eat it,' and he found it repulsive."Umar bin Khattab said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not forbid it. Allah benefits many people through it, and it is the regular food of the shepherds. If I had some, I would eat it."

سألت جابرا عن الضب فقال أتي رسول الله ﷺ به فقال لا أطعمه وقذره فقال عمر بن الخطاب إن رسول الله ﷺ لم يحرمه وإن الله عز وجل لينفع به غير واحد وهو طعام عامة الرعاء ولو كان عندي لطعمته
