The commander of the expedition was Ghalib al-Laythi, along with Qutbah bin Amir, the one who entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ through the date palms while in a state of ihram, then left through the door after having scaled the wall to enter, and Abdullah bin Unays, who asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about Laylat al-Qadr when twenty-two nights had already passed.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Seek it in these last seven nights remaining of the month."

أن أمير البعث كان غالبا الليثي وقطبة بن عامر الذي دخل على رسول الله ﷺ النخل وهو محرم ثم خرج من الباب وقد تسور من قبل الجدار وعبد الله بن أنيس الذي سأل رسول الله ﷺ عن ليلة القدر وقد خلت اثنان وعشرون ليلة فقال رسول الله ﷺ التمسها في هذه السبع الأواخر التي بقين من الشهر
