Jabir bin Abdullah reported,

I saw the Prophet ﷺ throw the pebbles at the Jamrah using small stones the size of those flicked between the fingers.

حدثنا يحيى عن ابن جريج أخبرني أبو الزبير أنه سمع

جابرا يقول

رأيت النبي ﷺ رمى الجمرة بحصى الخذف
