Saad rode out to his estate in al-Aqiq and found a slave-boy stripping leaves from a tree, or cutting it, so he took the boy's belongings from him. When Saad returned, the boy's masters came to him and asked him to return what he had taken from their slave.Saad replied, "Allah forbid that I return something the Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted me as spoils."He refused to return it to them.

أن سعدا ركب إلى قصره بالعقيق فوجد غلاما يخبط شجرا أو يقطعه فسلبه فلما رجع سعد جاءه أهل الغلام فكلموه أن يرد ما أخذ من غلامهم فقال معاذ الله أن أرد شيئا نفلنيه رسول الله ﷺ وأبى أن يرد عليهم
Its isnad is sahih. Abdullah bin Jafar bin Abdul-Rahman bin Miswar bin Makhrama Madani is trustworthy, Ahmad and others considered him trustworthy. Ismail bin Muhammad bin Saad bin Abu Waqqas is a trustworthy successor and an authority.The hadith was narrated by Muslim, 1:386, from Ishaq bin Ibrahim and Abd bin Humayd, from Abu Amir Aqadi. Abu Dawud also narrated it, as noted in Dhakhair Mawarith, 2122. See also number 1460.
