The people of Iraq will soon receive no qafiz of grain nor a single dirham of revenue.We asked, "Why is that?"He replied, "Because of the Persians. They will withhold it."Then he said, "And the people of Sham will soon receive no dinar nor a mudd of grain."We asked, "Why is that?"He answered, "Because of the Romans. They will withhold it."Then he paused for a moment and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'In the last days of my nation there will be a caliph who will scoop out wealth in handfuls without counting it.'"Jareeri said, I asked Abu Nadra and Abu Ala, "Do you think this refers to Umar bin Abdul-Aziz, may Allah be pleased with him?"They both replied, "No."

يوشك أهل العراق أن لا يجبى إليهم قفيز ولا درهم قلنا من أين ذاك قال من قبل العجم يمنعون ذلك ثم قال يوشك أهل الشام أن لا يجبى إليهم دينار ولا مد قلنا من أين ذاك من قبل الروم يمنعون ذاك قال ثم أمسك هنيهة ثم قال قال رسول الله ﷺ يكون في آخر أمتي خليفة يحثو المال حثوا لا يعده عدا قال الجريري فقلت لأبي نضرة وأبي العلاء أتريانه عمر بن عبد العزيز رضي الله تعالى عنه فقالا لا
Its isnad is sahih. It appears in Muslim 4/2234, no. 2913, in "Fitan," "The Hour will not come until a man passes by," and it was mentioned earlier with the wording "Iraq withheld..." in the Musnad of Abu Hurairah 2/262 of the printed edition.
