Zubayr bin Awwam reported,

This verse was revealed while we were gathered with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "And beware of a trial that will not strike only those among you who have done wrong". We began asking ourselves what this trial could be, never imagining where it would actually fall when it came to pass.End of the narration of Zubayr bin Awwam, may Allah be pleased with him.

حدثنا أسود بن عامر حدثنا جرير قال سمعت الحسن قال

قال الزبير بن العوام

نزلت هذه الآية ونحن متوافرون مع رسول الله ﷺ {واتقوا فتنة لا تصيبن الذين ظلموا منكم خاصة} فجعلنا نقول ما هذه الفتنة وما نشعر أنها تقع حيث وقعت آخر حديث الزبير بن العوام رضي الله تعالى عنه
