The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Iblis places his throne upon the water, then he dispatches his troops. The closest of them to him in rank are the greatest in causing strife. One of them comes and says, 'I did such and such,' and Iblis replies, 'You have done nothing.' Then another comes and says, 'I did not leave him until I separated him from his wife.' So Iblis brings him close to himself," or he said, "embraces him, and says, 'You are the one!'"Abu Muawiya once said, "He brings him close to himself."
