Jabir bin Abdullah reported,

He related a report similar to the report of Amr, with this addition. He said, the Prophet ﷺ provided us with a sack of dates as provisions. He would give us a handful at a time, then later just one date at a time, which we would chew and drink water with until nightfall. Then what was in the sack ran out. We started knocking down leaves from the khabat tree with our bows, and we suffered terrible hunger.Then the sea cast out a dead whale for us. Abu Ubayda said, "You are warriors, and you are starving, so eat." So we ate from it.Abu Ubayda would set up one of its ribs upright, and a rider passed beneath it on his camel. Five men could sit inside the socket of its eye. We ate from it and used its fat as oil until our bodies were restored and our complexions improved.When we arrived in Medina, Jabir said, we mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said, "It is provision that Allah brought forth for you. If you have any of it left, feed some to us."He said, we had some of it left, so some of the men sent him a portion, and he ate from it.

جابر بن عبد الله

يخبر نحوا من خبر عمرو هذا وزاد فيه قال وزودنا النبي ﷺ جرابا من تمر فكان يقبض لنا قبضة قبضة ثم تمرة تمرة فنمضغها ونشرب عليها الماء حتى الليل ثم نفد ما في الجراب فكنا نجتني الخبط بقسينا فجعنا جوعا شديدا فألقى لنا البحر حوتا ميتا فقال أبو عبيدة غزاة وجياع فكلوا فأكلنا فكان أبو عبيدة ينصب الضلع من أضلاعه فيمر الراكب على بعيره تحته ويجلس النفر الخمسة في موضع عينه فأكلنا منه وادهنا حتى صلحت أجسامنا وحسنت سحناتنا قال فلما قدمنا المدينة قال جابر فذكرناه لرسول الله ﷺ فقال رزق أخرجه الله لكم فإن كان معكم منه شيء فأطعموناه قال فكان معنا منه شيء فأرسل به إليه بعض القوم فأكل منه
