I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "The likeness of the five prescribed prayers is like a flowing river at the door of one of you, in which he bathes five times a day."
حدثنا محمد بن فضيل حدثنا الأعمش عن أبي سفيان
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول مثل الصلوات الخمس المكتوبات كمثل نهر جار بباب أحدكم يغتسل منه كل يوم خمس مرات
Its isnad is sahih. Muslim narrated the hadith with this wording in 1/463, no. 668, as did Darimi in 1/419, Ibn Abu Shayba in 2/389, Abu Awana in 2/20, and Tabarani in Al-Kabir 8/162. The hadith appears in the sahih collections and others with the wording, "What do you think if there were a river." It has already appeared at 8908.
