I ate bread and meat with the Prophet ﷺ, Abu Bakr, and Umar, and they prayed without performing ablution.
Its chain of transmission is sahih because of Ali bin Zayd, and the hadith is found in Nasai 1/108 in the Book of Purification, chapter on foregoing wudu for food changed by fire. All the leading scholars narrated it in wording close to this, and this is the position held by the jurists.
