Jabir bin Abdullah reported,

The Prophet ﷺ fell from a horse onto the trunk of a palm tree and sprained his foot. We came to visit him and found him praying, so we prayed behind him while standing.When he finished, he said, "The imam is appointed only to be followed. If he prays standing, then pray standing. If he prays sitting, then pray sitting. Do not remain standing while he is seated, as the Persians do for their great ones."

حدثنا وكيع حدثنا الأعمش عن أبي سفيان

عن جابر قال

صرع النبي ﷺ من فرس على جذع نخلة فانفكت قدمه فدخلنا عليه نعوده فوجدناه يصلي فصلينا بصلاته ونحن قيام فلما صلى قال إنما جعل الإمام ليؤتم به فإن صلى قائما فصلوا قياما وإن صلى جالسا فصلوا جلوسا ولا تقوموا وهو جالس كما يفعل أهل فارس بعظمائها
