A man from the Ansar had a boy born to him and wished to name him Muhammad. He came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him about it. The Prophet ﷺ said, "The Ansar have done well. Name your children with my name, but do not adopt my kunya."
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا شعبة وحجاج قال حدثني شعبة قال سمعت قتادة يحدث عن سالم بن أبي الجعد قال حجاج في حديثه قال سمعت سالما
أن رجلا من الأنصار ولد له غلام فأراد أن يسميه محمدا فأتى النبي ﷺ فسأله فقال أحسنت الأنصار تسموا باسمي ولا تكنوا بكنيتي
Its isnad is sahih, it has preceded without the phrase "the Ansar have done well." See 12896, and it is found in the Sihah.
