A man during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ freed a slave of his upon his own death, although he owned no other property besides him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Who will buy him from me?" Naeem bin Abdullah said, "I will buy him," and so he bought him.Amr said that Jabir said he was a Coptic boy who died the previous year. Abu Zubayr added that he was called Yaqub.

أعتق رجل على عهد رسول الله ﷺ غلاما له ليس له مال غيره على دبر منه فقال رسول الله ﷺ من يبتاعه مني فقال نعيم بن عبد الله أنا أبتاعه فابتاعه فقال عمرو قال جابر غلام قبطي ومات عام الأول زاد فيها أبو الزبير يقال له يعقوب
Its chain of transmission is sahih.
