We were on a military expedition, or perhaps a journey, with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and we numbered on that day a little over two hundred men. The time for prayer arrived, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Is there any water among the people?"A man came hurrying with a small water vessel that contained a little water. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ poured it into a bowl and performed his ablution, doing it well. He then left, leaving the bowl behind, and the people rushed at the bowl, wiping themselves with whatever was in it.When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ heard them carrying on like this, he said, "Take it easy."Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ placed his palm in the water in the bowl and said, "In the name of Allah." Then he said, "Perform the ablution thoroughly."By the One who has tested me with the loss of my sight, I saw on that day springs of water flowing out from between the fingers of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, until every one of them had performed the ablution.
حدثنا يحيى بن حماد حدثنا أبو عوانة عن الأسود بن قيس عن نبيح العنزي أن
غزونا أو سافرنا مع رسول الله ﷺ ونحن يومئذ بضعة عشر ومائتان فحضرت الصلاة فقال رسول الله ﷺ هل في القوم من ماء فجاء رجل يسعى بإداوة فيها شيء من ماء قال فصبه رسول الله ﷺ في قدح قال فتوضأ رسول الله ﷺ فأحسن الوضوء ثم انصرف وترك القدح فركب الناس القدح يمسحوا ويمسحوا فقال رسول الله ﷺ على رسلكم حين سمعهم يقولون ذلك قال فوضع رسول الله ﷺ كفه في الماء والقدح ثم قال رسول الله ﷺ بسم الله ثم قال أسبغوا الوضوء فوالذي هو ابتلاني ببصري لقد رأيت العيون عيون الماء يومئذ تخرج من بين أصابع رسول الله ﷺ حتى توضئوا أجمعون

Its isnad is sahih. Aswad bin Qays Abu Qays Abdi is trustworthy, and Nabeeh Anazi is Ibn Abdullah, whose hadith is accepted and has not been criticized by anyone. The story was narrated by Anas in brief at 17370.
