Hasan bin Muhammad asked Jabir bin Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with them both, about the bath required after major ritual impurity.Jabir replied, "You wet the hair and wash the skin."Hasan asked, "How did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ perform his bath?"Jabir answered, "He would pour water over his head three times."Hasan said, "My hair is thick."Jabir replied, "The head of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had more hair than yours, and finer."

سأل الحسن بن محمد جابر بن عبد الله رضي الله تعالى عنهما عن الغسل من الجنابة فقال تبل الشعر وتغسل البشرة قال فكيف كان رسول الله ﷺ يغتسل قال كان يصب على رأسه ثلاثا قال إن رأسي كثير الشعر قال كان رأس رسول الله ﷺ أكثر من رأسك وأطيب
Its isnad is sahih. Ubaydullah bin Miqsam is trustworthy, and here he is not narrating from Hasan bin Muhammad concerning the hadith from Jabir, but rather he was present at the questioning. Hasan bin Muhammad is the son of Ali bin Abu Talib, and his father is the one called Muhammad bin Hanafiya.The hadith with this wording was reported by Abu Awana, 1/232, and with the wording "he used to pour," it was reported by Bukhari, 1/73, in the chapter on purification, and by Baghawi in Sharh al-Sunnah, 2/11.
