Anas bin Malik reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to visit us. I had a little brother who had a small sparrow he would play with, and that sparrow died. One day the Prophet ﷺ came in and saw him looking sad, so he asked, "What is wrong with Abu Umayr that he is sad?"They replied, "Messenger of Allah, his sparrow that he used to play with has died."So he said, "Abu Umayr, what happened to the little sparrow?"

عن أنس قال

كان رسول الله ﷺ يدخل علينا وكان لي أخ صغير وكان له نغير يلعب به فمات نغره الذي كان يلعب به فدخل النبي ﷺ ذات يوم فرآه حزينا فقال له ما شأن أبي عمير حزينا فقالوا مات نغره الذي كان يلعب به يا رسول الله فقال أبا عمير ما فعل النغير
