Anas bin Malik reported,

Anas reported that on the day of Hunayn, Hawazin came out with their women, children, camels, and sheep, arranging them in ranks. They greatly outnumbered the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When the two sides met, the Muslims turned and fled, just as Allah described.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then called out, "Servants of Allah, I am the servant of Allah and His Messenger." Then he said, "Company of the Ansar, I am the servant of Allah and His Messenger."Allah then routed the polytheists, though the Muslims had not struck a single sword blow nor thrust a single spear.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said that day, "Whoever kills an unbeliever may take his spoils."Abu Talha killed twenty men that day and took their spoils.Abu Qatada said, "Messenger of Allah, I struck a man on the shoulder strap, and he was wearing a coat of mail, but I was rushed away from him." Hammad also said, "I was hurried away from him. So find out who took it."A man stood up and said, "I took it. Compensate him for it and give it to me."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never had anything asked of him without either giving it or remaining silent. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent.Then Umar said, "By Allah, Allah will not grant the spoils to one of His lions only for him to hand them over to you."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Umar has spoken the truth." The Prophet ﷺ laughed and said, "Umar has spoken the truth."Abu Talha came across Umm Sulaym, who was carrying a dagger.Abu Talha asked, "What are you doing with this?"She replied, "I intended that if any of the polytheists came near me, I would rip open his belly with it."Abu Talha said, "Do you not hear what Umm Sulaym is saying?"She said, "Messenger of Allah, kill those who fled from you among the freed ones, the ones who deserted you."He said, "Allah has sufficed and shown excellence, Umm Sulaym."

حدثنا عفان حدثنا حماد بن سلمة قال أخبرنا إسحاق بن عبد الله بن أبي طلحة

عن أنس بن مالك

أن هوازن جاءت يوم حنين بالنساء والصبيان والإبل والغنم فجعلوها صفوفا وكثرن على رسول الله ﷺ فلما التقوا ولى المسلمون مدبرين كما قال الله عز وجل فقال رسول الله ﷺ يا عباد الله أنا عبد الله ورسوله ثم قال يا معشر الأنصار أنا عبد الله ورسوله قال فهزم الله المشركين ولم يضربوا بسيف ولم يطعنوا برمح قال وقال رسول الله ﷺ يومئذ من قتل كافرا فله سلبه قال فقتل أبو طلحة يومئذ عشرين رجلا وأخذ أسلابهم وقال أبو قتادة يا رسول الله إني ضربت رجلا على حبل العاتق وعليه درع له وأجهضت عنه وقد قال حماد أيضا فأعجلت عنه فانظر من أخذها قال فقام رجل فقال أنا أخذتها فأرضه منها وأعطنيها وكان رسول الله ﷺ لا يسأل شيئا إلا أعطاه أو سكت قال فسكت رسول الله ﷺ قال فقال عمر والله لا يفيئها الله على أسد من أسده ويعطيكها قال فقال رسول الله ﷺ صدق عمر فضحك النبي ﷺ وقال صدق عمر ولقي أبو طلحة أم سليم ومعها خنجر فقال أبو طلحة ما هذا معك قالت أردت إن دنا مني بعض المشركين أن أبعج به بطنه فقال أبو طلحة ألا تسمع ما تقول أم سليم قالت يا رسول الله اقتل من بعدنا من الطلقاء انهزموا بك فقال إن الله قد كفى وأحسن يا أم سليم
