A Persian man was a neighbor of the Prophet ﷺ, and his broth had the most pleasant aroma. One day he came to the Prophet ﷺ and gestured to him like this, Hammad described with his hand, meaning, "Come."The Prophet ﷺ gestured back, indicating, "And Ayesha is with me?" Gesturing in this way.The man motioned with his hand like this, Hammad described, meaning, "No."The Prophet ﷺ gestured like this, meaning, "No, then."The man came back to him again, indicating, "Come."The Prophet ﷺ responded the same way, two or three times, saying this, and saying that, Hammad described, meaning, "No," and saying this, meaning, "No."Then he gestured like this, meaning, "Yes," so the two of them got up and went.
حدثنا عفان حدثنا حماد بن سلمة عن ثابت
أن فارسيا كان جارا للنبي ﷺ وكانت مرقته أطيب شيء ريحا فجاء ذات يوم إلى النبي ﷺ فأومأ إليه هكذا وصف حماد بيده أي تعال فأومأ إليه وعائشة معي يومئ إيماء فقال الرجل بيده هكذا ووصف حماد أي لا قال النبي ﷺ هكذا أي لا قال ثم عاد إليه أن تعال فقال مثل ذلك مرتين أو ثلاثا يقول كذا ويقول كذا وصف حماد أي لا ويقول ذا أي لا فقال هكذا أي قوما فذهبا
