When Abdul-Rahman bin Awf arrived in Medina, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ established a bond of brotherhood between him and Saad bin Rabi al-Ansari.Saad said to him, "My brother, I am the wealthiest of the people of Medina. Look at half of my wealth and take it. I have two wives, so look at whichever of them appeals to you most, and I will divorce her for you."Abdul-Rahman replied, "May Allah bless you in your family and your wealth. Just direct me to the marketplace."So they directed him to the marketplace, and he went and bought and sold and made a profit. He came back with some dried curd and clarified butter. He continued like this for as long as Allah willed, then one day he came with traces of saffron on him.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "What is this?"He said, "Messenger of Allah, I have married a woman."The Prophet asked, "What dowry did you give her?"He replied, "The weight of a date stone in gold."The Prophet said, "Hold a wedding feast, even if only with a single sheep."Abdul-Rahman said, "Indeed, I reached a point where, had I lifted a stone, I would have expected to find gold or silver beneath it."

أن عبد الرحمن بن عوف قدم المدينة فآخى رسول الله ﷺ بينه وبين سعد بن الربيع الأنصاري فقال له سعد أي أخي أنا أكثر أهل المدينة مالا فانظر شطر مالي فخذه وتحتي امرأتان فانظر أيهما أعجب إليك حتى أطلقها فقال عبد الرحمن بارك الله لك في أهلك ومالك دلوني على السوق فدلوه على السوق فذهب فاشترى وباع وربح فجاء بشيء من أقط وسمن ثم لبث ما شاء الله أن يلبث فجاء وعليه ردع زعفران فقال رسول الله ﷺ مهيم فقال يا رسول الله تزوجت امرأة فقال ما أصدقتها قال وزن نواة من ذهب قال أولم ولو بشاة قال عبد الرحمن فلقد رأيتني ولو رفعت حجرا لرجوت أن أصيب ذهبا أو فضة
