The Prophet ﷺ stayed for three days between Khaybar and Madinah, where he consummated his marriage with Safiya bint Huyayy. I invited the Muslims to his wedding feast. There was neither bread nor meat in it. He ordered that leather mats be spread out, and dates, dried curd, and clarified butter were placed on them. That was his wedding feast. The Muslims wondered whether she was one of the Mothers of the Believers or one of those his right hand possessed. They said, "If he veils her, then she is one of the Mothers of the Believers, but if he does not veil her, then she is one of those his right hand possessed."When he set out, he prepared a place for her behind him and drew a curtain between her and the people.
