Anas bin Malik reported,

A man asked the Prophet ﷺ about Kawthar.Ziyad bin Abu Ziyad, the freed slave of Ibn Abbas, related to me, "Umar and I left the Dhuhr prayer, which Hisham bin Ismail had led the people in, at the time he was governor over Madinah, and we went to Amr bin Abdullah bin Abu Talha to visit him during an illness he had. We did not sit down, we asked after him standing. Then we left and called on Anas bin Malik at his house, which stood beside the house of Abu Talha. When we had sat down, the servant girl came to him and said, "The prayer, Abu Hamza."We said, "Which prayer, may Allah have mercy on you?"Anas said, "Asr."We said, "But we have only just prayed Dhuhr!"He said, "You have abandoned the prayer until you have forgotten it," or he said, "You have forgotten it until you have abandoned it. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'I and the Hour have been sent like these two,' and he held out his two fingers, the index and the middle."He said, the fleshy tip of one of them is fuller than the other.
