Some people mentioned the Pond in the presence of Ubaydullah bin Ziyad, and he denied it, saying, "What is this Pond?" When word of this reached Anas bin Malik, he said, "By Allah, I will certainly do something about this."So he went to him and said, "You all were discussing the Pond."Ubaydullah asked, "Have you heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mention it?"Anas replied, "Yes, more times than I can count. He said that the distance between its two ends is like the distance between Aylah and Makkah, or between Sanaa and Makkah, and that its vessels are more numerous than the stars of the sky."Hasan said, "And its vessels are indeed more numerous than the count of the stars in the sky."
حدثنا يونس وحسن بن موسى قالا أنبأنا حماد بن سلمة عن علي بن زيد عن الحسن
أن قوما ذكروا عند عبيد الله بن زياد الحوض فأنكره وقال ما الحوض فبلغ ذلك أنس بن مالك فقال لا جرم والله لأفعلن فأتاه فقال ذكرتم الحوض فقال عبيد الله هل سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يذكره فقال نعم يقول أكثر من كذا وكذا مرة إن ما بين طرفيه كما بين أيلة إلى مكة أو بين صنعاء ومكة وإن آنيته أكثر من نجوم السماء قال حسن وإن آنيته لأكثر من عدد نجوم السماء
