Ali bin Abu Talib reported,

A group from Quraysh came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Muhammad, we are your neighbors and allies. Some of our slaves have come to you not out of any desire for the religion or any wish to gain understanding of it, but only fleeing from our estates and our property. Send them back to us."The Prophet ﷺ turned to Abu Bakr and asked, "What do you say?"Abu Bakr replied, "They speak the truth. They are indeed your neighbors."The face of the Prophet ﷺ changed. Then he turned to Umar and asked, "What do you say?"Umar replied, "They speak the truth. They are indeed your neighbors and allies."The face of the Prophet ﷺ changed again.

حدثنا أسود بن عامر أخبرنا شريك عن منصور عن ربعي

عن علي رضي الله عنه قال

جاء النبي ﷺ أناس من قريش فقالوا يا محمد إنا جيرانك وحلفاؤك وإن ناسا من عبيدنا قد أتوك ليس بهم رغبة في الدين ولا رغبة في الفقه إنما فروا من ضياعنا وأموالنا فارددهم إلينا فقال لأبي بكر رضي الله عنه ما تقول قال صدقوا إنهم جيرانك قال فتغير وجه النبي ﷺ ثم قال لعمر رضي الله عنه ما تقول قال صدقوا إنهم لجيرانك وحلفاؤك فتغير وجه النبي ﷺ
