He saw a silver ring on the finger of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for just one day. Then the people rushed to have silver rings made and wore them. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ cast his ring aside, and the people cast aside their rings as well.
حدثنا بشر بن شعيب بن أبي حمزة قال أخبرني أبي قال محمد يعني الزهري
أنه رأى في أصبع رسول الله ﷺ خاتما من ورق يوما واحدا ثم إن الناس اضطربوا خواتم من ورق فلبسوها فطرح رسول الله ﷺ خاتمه فطرح الناس خواتيمهم
