The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray the afternoon prayer while the sun was still high and bright. A person could then set out to al-Awali, reach it, and the sun would still be high.
حدثنا إسحاق بن عيسى وهاشم قالا حدثنا ليث حدثني ابن شهاب
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان يصلي العصر والشمس مرتفعة حية فيذهب الذاهب إلى العوالي فيأتي العوالي والشمس مرتفعة
