A man during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to engage in buying and selling, but he was weak in judgment. His family came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Prophet of Allah, place so-and-so under guardianship, for he engages in trade while being weak in judgment."The Prophet of Allah ﷺ called him and forbade him from trading. The man said, "Prophet of Allah, I cannot keep away from buying and selling."The Prophet ﷺ said, "If you will not give up trading, then say, 'Here it is, take it, but no deception,' and 'Here, take it, no deception.'"
حدثنا عبد الوهاب أخبرنا سعيد عن قتادة
أن رجلا على عهد رسول الله ﷺ كان يبتاع وكان في عقدته يعني عقله ضعف فأتى أهله النبي ﷺ فقالوا يا نبي الله احجر على فلان فإنه يبتاع وفي عقدته ضعف فدعاه نبي الله ﷺ فنهاه عن البيع فقال يا نبي الله إني لا أصبر عن البيع فقال ﷺ إن كنت غير تارك البيع فقل هو ها ولا خلابة ولا ها لا خلابة
Its isnad is sahih. Tirmidhi narrated the hadith with similar wording, 3/543, no. 1250, in the chapter on trade, regarding one who is deceived in a sale, and he said, hasan sahih. Bukhari also narrated the hadith, 3/86, no. 2157, Shab edition, with the wording, "When you make a purchase, say, 'No deception,'" as did Abu Dawud, 3500, and Tayalisi, 1337, Minhah.
