A man would approach the Prophet ﷺ on Friday after he had stepped down from the pulpit and speak with him, then he would commence the prayer.
حدثنا وهب بن جرير حدثنا أبي قال سمعت ثابتا البناني يحدث
أن النبي ﷺ كان يعرض له الرجل يوم الجمعة بعدما ينزل من المنبر فيكلمه ثم يدخل في الصلاة
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Wahb is the son of Jareer bin Hazim, and he and his father are both trustworthy. This hadith has preceded many times among the hadiths about seeking rain, see Sunan Abu Dawud 1/292, no. 1120, and Tirmidhi 2/396, no. 518, where he said, hasan sahih, and Nasai 3/110, no. 1419.
