The Ansar were finding the labor of drawing water on camels too burdensome, so they came to the Prophet ﷺ to ask him either to pray for them or to have a canal dug for them. The Prophet ﷺ was informed of this and said, "Whatever they ask of me today, they shall be granted."The Ansar were told of this, and when they heard what the Prophet ﷺ had said, they said, "Ask Allah to forgive us."So he said, "O Allah, forgive the Ansar, the children of the Ansar, and the children of the children of the Ansar."
حدثنا عبد الصمد حدثنا عبد الله بن أبي يزيد قال
أن الأنصار اشتدت عليهم السواني فأتوا النبي ﷺ ليدعو لهم أو يحفر لهم نهرا فأخبر النبي ﷺ بذلك فقال لا يسألوني اليوم شيئا إلا أعطوه فأخبرت الأنصار بذلك فلما سمعوا ما قال النبي ﷺ قالوا ادع الله لنا بالمغفرة فقال اللهم اغفر للأنصار ولأبناء الأنصار ولأبناء أبناء الأنصار
