I brought Abdullah bin Abu Talha to the Prophet ﷺ when he was born. The Prophet was applying tar to a camel of his and was wearing a cloak. He asked, "Do you have any dates with you?"I handed him some dates. He put them in his mouth and chewed them, then opened the baby's mouth and placed the chewed dates inside. The infant began smacking his lips at the taste.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The Ansar love dates."And he named him Abdullah.
حدثنا عبد الصمد حدثنا حماد عن ثابت
أتيت النبي ﷺ بعبد الله بن أبي طلحة حين ولد وهو يهنأ بعيرا له وعليه عباءة فقال معك تمر فناولته تمرات فألقاهن في فيه فلاكهن ثم فغر فاه ثم أوجرهن إياه فجعل يتلمظ الصبي فقال رسول الله ﷺ حب الأنصار التمر وسماه عبد الله
