The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had the most excellent character of all people. I had a brother called Abu Umayr. I think he said he had just been weaned. Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and saw him, he would say, "Abu Umayr, what happened to the Nughayr?" It was a small bird he used to play with.Sometimes the time for prayer would come while he was in our house, so he would order the mat beneath him to be swept and sprinkled with water. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would stand and we would stand behind him, and he would lead us in prayer.Their mat was made of palm fronds (Jurayy).
حدثنا عبد الصمد حدثني أبي قال أخبرنا أبو التياح
كان رسول الله ﷺ أحسن الناس خلقا وكان لي أخ يقال له أبو عمير قال أحسبه قال فطيما فقال وكان إذا جاء رسول الله ﷺ فرآه قال أبا عمير ما فعل النغير قال نغر كان يلعب به قال فربما تحضره الصلاة وهو في بيتنا فيأمر بالبساط الذي تحته فيكنس ثم ينضح بالماء ثم يقوم رسول الله ﷺ ونقوم خلفه فيصلي بنا قال وكان بساطهم من جريد النخل
